Permalink Reply by Matt on January 25, 2013 at 12:46pm I think that those people who are opposed on a moral grounds to artifically transferring genes beyond natural boundries and re-arranging the genetic code of a plant or animal will never see genetic engineering as a positive technology, no matter how much good press it gets.
We still remember the kids running in clouds of DDT from the middle part of the last century and the press telling us it was harmless.
I am one of those people as well.
Permalink Reply by David Miller on February 23, 2013 at 8:46am Great article! It's about time that science confronts emotion. The Organic movement is much more than a growing system, it is a cult or at the very least a way of life. Mark Lynas proves to be a very big man because that is what it takes to recant such an emotionally charged opinion. Coming from Great Britain I am sure that he is now on Prince Charles' s--t list.
