Plug Trays - Are they all crap?
I have been searching for good, solid plug trays for the last few years. Each year I wind up putting up with very flimsy single use trays that are NOT easy to move from the greenhouse to the field to transplant.
WHAT are you using for 72's, 128's, 144's, 288's, etc?
I received samples of Dillen's Injection Molded trays last year and they are fantastic. Heavyweight, don't break, don't sag, etc. I called up BFG this year to order some and was told they are a non-stock item for BFG. They contacted Dillen and they don't keep them in stock either. Minimum run is 3000 trays.
Holy smokes! I would need to be VERY large to need that many of ANY size.
So what do you all use for plug trays? I got Landmark 72's and 128's last year and was not very impressed. Are ITML or TLC any better? Are you sticking a 10x20 tray under them? If so whch brand and size do you get that fits well?
Does anyone make a nice solid plug tray for us veggie farmers that need them to actually survive on the transplanter?

It's been a long while since I've bought any so they may have changed but I've been using the same the Speedling flats for over ten years. Our transplanter is designed especially for them. They are very ridged styrofoam, not flimsy plastic.
I use 72 and a few 32 cell counts. Many sources for them, here's one

I buy mine from Blackmore Company and they usually last 2 or 3 years with care.

I broke down and ordered some Dillen Injection Molded trays from AMA plastics in Canada. I just couldn't bring myself to buy more thow away trays. I am very pleased that I did. The trays cost around $4 each and they are very nice and heavy duty. They didn't have the 162's so I am still looking for them.
It is sort of disheartening that most companies make throw away trays today.
