Kids' Produce Consumption

American Vegetable Grower magazine has a cover story this month on how we can increase kids' consumption of fruits and vegetables. It was also posted at GrowingProduce.com. Here's a link. I'm looking for ideas to help boost produce consumption, which would not only help vegetable sales, it would go a long way to improving the health of our young people. Obesity has become a huge problem. Any and…See More

Goodbye and Hello

It's a bittersweet day here at GrowingProduce.com. One of our editors, Ann-Marie Vazzano, who also served as managing editor of American/Western Fruit Grower, departed last week for greener pastures. Actually, I don't think she moved at all, she just took a new job. Definitely a bummer as we're going to miss her. But on the bright side, she gave us enough notice that this week we're welcoming her replacement, Rebecca Bartels. So give Rebecca a nice warm welcome!See More

Telling Ag’s Story

In the January issue of American Vegetable Grower magazine’s“Seed For Thought” column, I wrote about how I’ve heard all sorts of horror stories from growers about their struggles with government regulations. I suggested that part of the problem is that the disconnect between the average citizen and agriculture continues to grow. It’s you growers who are partly to blame: Every year the ratio of people to growers increases as modern agriculture gets more efficient. Anyway, I think it would help a…See More
